Civilians on the Airlift described the offloading as follows:

The large freight doorway at the rear was completely blocked by a lorry which had already received half the load. Eight German labourers were inside the fuselage and in the lorry three Germans were stacking. From the centre section doorway, a chain of four more were feeding a second lorry parked close by the inboard propeller on the port side. We had just taken all this in when two women sweepers appeared and as the last sacks went out through the door, the dust from their brooms met the incoming crew.13
